The trust question changed wording in mid-2022. From April 2020 to mid-2022, CHIP50 asked: “How much do you trust the following people and organizations to do the right thing to best handle the current coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak?” Since mid-2022 it asks how much people trust them “to do what is right.” The answer options stayed the same: a lot, some, not too much, not at all.
Why it matters. The earlier question is about the pandemic, so its answers are not directly comparable with the later, general question. Trust in public health agencies, for example, partly reflected how people judged the pandemic response. The page therefore never joins the two into one line: the COVID-19 wording is drawn as a dashed line, the current wording as a solid line, and a marker shows where the wording changed. Both were asked in the same survey in June to August 2022 (W23), so you can see how much the wording itself moves the answers.
What the box does. Unticked (the default), charts show both wordings, so trends reach back to April 2020. Ticked, only the current wording is used and everything starts in mid-2022. For a survey period from before mid-2022, the COVID-19 wording is the only one there is.
